What is the difference between Silicon and Silicone?
Silicone is a synthetic polymer and is generally a liquid or rubberlike plastic. It is widely used in plumbing and building/construction, however it is used in other sealants, used to make kitchen utensils, and a common ingredient in personal care products such as shampoo, makeup and shaving creams. It is no longer used in most paint protection products.
Silicon is a naturally occurring chemical element. It can be found in various forms which would include Silicon Dioxide. Silicon Dioxide is found as quartz and silica (sand), and is the second most abundant element on the earth’s crust (after oxygen). Silicon Dioxide is one of the ingredients in the HYDRO formula as is Silicon Carbide (also known as carborundum).
